Building a Business While Employed And Raising Kids
Get weekly tips from full-time working mom (that's me, Sharon) about building a business on the side and creating the life you want.
Topics centre around optimizing your time, energy, and money to do this.
The back story...
In 2015, I realized that getting the job title and salary I wanted felt empty.
That's when I decided what I had believed about success was wrong for me.
I didn't want to keep climbing the corporate ladder only to pay bills and die.
So I decided to redefine success and redesign my career to support the life I want.
I experimented with lots of side projects, businesses and even started a cafe!
Eventually, it led me to becoming a leadership trainer in my day job and coaching working moms on the side.
You'll also hear from other women building businesses from time to time.
Follow the show and remember to rate and review it to help more working moms find it!

Building a Business While Employed And Raising Kids
147: The journey to self-employment with LinkedIn Top Voice, Niharikaaa Kaur Sodhi
This episode was a long awaited one. My guest is LinkedIn Top Voice, Niharikaa Kaur Sodhi. If you’re on LinkedIn, you probably know who she is. Her program, Summit 21, featured other heavyweights like Tim Denning, Justin Welsh, Ankur Warikoo and more.
Niharikaa’s phenomenal growth has inspired many people building a solopreneur lifestyle. This episode is packed with her valuable wisdom and experience transitioning from a corporate job into becoming a self-employed solopreneur today.
Here’s a snapshot of what we discussed:
- Her journey to self-employment since age 25 in 2021
- How her accidental building-in-public experiment catapulted her growth
- Her mindful approach to content creation - it’s so much easier than you think
- Finding your niche and writing about it instead of stressing over it
- Mindset and gratitude practices to cultivate solution-focused thinking rather than anxiety
- Advice for working moms with a full schedule aspiring to grow a business on the side
- New projects she’s working on as she ventures into new and unchartered territory
What I love most about Niharikaa is her openness to try new things and share publicly about it, regardless of how they turn out. I’m sure you’ll learn a ton in this episode. When you do, share your key takeaways with Niharikaa and me by tagging us on LinkedIn:
